[Top Affiliate Challenge] Top Affiliate Challenge: Drama, Controversy, Fraud and other Poop

The fur is starting to fly in the heated Top Affiliate Challenge competition!
Thor blogged about me getting into the media yesterday. Read the post here. That’s nice because the paper isn’t online, so he put in the jpg of the article I had sent him as proof. I found myself wondering what kinds of responses I’d get from other contestants. So far it’s all good.
Here are a couple of “tame” interviews:

Incidentally that is in no way a slam…I just ppening on the Top Affiliate Challenge Official Blog:
But this blog post really stirred the pot. It was one about voting fraud on the show.
This is the most commented post, as far as I know.
There is yet more voting fraud. Here is an excerpt from the post:
(Thor Schrock wrote:) “There are still fraudulent votes in the system, and they are being detected and rooted out every day. The top 10 is pretty pure at this point. If you are hell bent on cheating, please remember that every single vote is going top be inspected by human eyes before ANYONE is selected for the show. You will eventually be caught, even if you make it to the end.“The sad thing is that some of the best videos that were submitted were submitted by less than ethical people. I was personally saddened to learn that some of my favorites that were doing so well did not belong in the top 10 at all.”
Now there are over 30 comments, many of them anonymous because a couple of folks don’t have the guts to own up to their comments.
One contestant makes a veiled accusation at the Gutz community:

Part of one of the anonymous comments is:

I contend that there are only about 20-30 people voting anyway. “
This anonymous comment is made fun of in later comments…

Chad, Van Norman, the first contestant to receive an 8 (for appearing to eat a bagel out of the toilet) has a fun video where he teases the rest of us. I love it, but if you haven’t been following the competition, it won’t make since…er…sense (snicker). This is what he has to say:

“I have been keeping track of peoples stats. If most of the contestants brought up your base scores, they would be in the top “10″!
For a while there was only an 11 point difference between 1st and 10th.”
Yes, Chad, you’re right. Now if they would EVER process my new video, I suspect my score will be higher.
Later he adds:

OK Chad I don’t have family jewels but I’d still prefer not to be your victim. Maybe the biggest whiner should get the kick???

Sure we love drama, right??? And those anonymous comments - what fun.
One of our dear anonymous posters even wrote:“I noticed you didn’t mention about contestants talking about their disabilities on each video…. this is the same as video with gimmicks, flash, and wildly scripted. ”
I’ll let you check out my comment over there, but I don’t personally think mentioning a disability is any different from mentioning anything else that is part of your story. Talk about people you’d like to kick in the nuts!
So I’m still waiting to see something better from the Digital Gangster. I can’t imagine that’s the best he’s got. Also I know that Big Jason Henderson has plans and I’m eager to find out what he has in store.
Interestingly, on that interview with Tracy I KNOW he is underestimating me under the false assumption that everyone in the top 10 has very little skill.
I now know that Thor Schrock has a thing for eating stuff out of the toilet. After all, Chad and Jon Ryan both used that trick in different ways and got an 8. Can we say potty mouth??? Hey just teasing you, Thor! You’ve got a toddler at home and I think it’s gone to your head…or is it just a guy thing???
This will be interesting and heaps of fun.
There’s still time to get an audition video put together and submit it…though time is running out. You’ve got about 2 weeks of submission time left. Maybe eating your own poop out of the toilet will get you a 9.

Yep, there’s something rotten in Denmark.
After seeing an audition that was nothing more than the entrant just talking to the camera, with zero production value and not really much personality, get a 33% higher base score than other’s that had so much more going on in their reels, I can only presume this entrant knows the producers.
The suspicious entrant also appeared to be unfamiliar with who the coaches were (he knew Shoemoney, but not John Chow, or Ken McArthur).
Why he got a base score of 8 is beyond me… I mean, don’t get me wrong, he seemed like a nice guy and all but his video was just so basic and like all the other videos that scored a 3 or 4. It baffles me.
Somethings fishy for sure…
It is really steaming up on the top affiliate challenge website.
Unfortunately I’m no longer in the top 10. Oh well, maybe another time with TAC.
I think this should be a time when everyone sets aside their egos and actually tried networking and learning from others and building relationships.
Nobody on this show has it going on to where they think they are BIGGER than or more experienced than anyone else. Collectively we could really do some power stuff.
We all can learn one thing from someone.
Best to all the contestants, remember to leave your egos at the door when you make it on the show.
