The Second Most Deadly success Killer

Mike Litman shared part of his journey. He said this:
“When I was struggling, bad, for years, I wanted to make ‘big money’, but what I had no clue of then was I didn’t have the knowledge base or skill sets to reach those goals. I wasn’t the right type of person yet.”
Take a look at that paragraph asd ask yourself if you have the skills to be at $10,000 a month or $20,000 a month or to be a millionaire.
I was at a conference last year and I must have been wearing a magnet, because every time I entered a room it felt like I was a movie star. People gravitated to me. It was actually weird for someone who could have been voted most unpopular girl at school.
Wy I share that is not to brag on myself — not at all! — but to share an important principle. People are drawn to me because they feel that I am real and that I am approachable.
Like all people who start from nothing and achieve greatness, I set about acquiring the skills I need to be where I want to be.
Last year I knew that the only way for me to break free of being a broke author was to learn sales and marketing — and NOT from an author who wrote a marketing book but couldn’t pay a single bill with their profits as an author. (Yes I do know an author who wrote a marketing book and scrounges every month to pay the smallest bill. Amazing!)
So I learned sales and marketing from my first mentor, Glenn Dietzel. I did everything he told me to do and then some, and he asked me to join the team. Now I teach the Awaken The Author Within intensive mastermind mentoring program.
My point? What I learned brought me to a higher level of income and status, and I could not have achieved this level without training for it.
There are two primary reasons that people do not reach the level in life that they want to reach. The second reason is people don’t put in enough TIME in both study and ACTION.
We live in a fast food, fast action society. Give it to me now! Don’t make me wait 5 minutes. Don’t make me work on my own mindset and attitude to reach a new level.
We forget that we weren’t born walking. We didn’t walk out of Mom’s womb. We watched Mom and Dad walk and wished we could do it too, then at some point we clambered onto shaky legs, gripped the coffee table and staggered before we fell.
Yet we all think we can learn how to work smarter, not harder and earn higher income with the wave of a wand. We ALL do it. I’m not saying I’m exempt from wanting to “get there faster.”
Look at waht Mike Litman says next:
“I didn’t stay focused for long enough periods of times. “I expected things to happen immediately and if they didn’t I thought that was ‘failure’.
I was reading some amazing training material from another of my mentors, Joe Schroeder, and he wrote about this too.
Next post I’ll write about the biggest reason people don’t get the results they want, but for now, take a few minutes and focus on time.
Is there something you need to learn that would move your business forward that you are not taking the TIME to learn?
Is there a course for which you have registered that you keep saying, “I need to get to that”? You think life will roll over and give you a year off so you can do what you want?
Are there calls you need to make that would move your business forward?
Are you spending 80% of your time working from your strengths, as the wealthy do? Or are you piddling around wasting time working from your weakness? Last year I spent WAY too much time trying to maek my own website. I should have handed that task over to a pro much sooner. I didn’t value my time enough to realize I needed it for more important things.
Do you think people like Oprah spend time fussing over things that are not her strength? NO! She hires someone else to do it.
Should I be any different? No.
So my goal is to off-load a few more tasks that are not my strength off of me.
Waht about you?
