The Next Internet Millionaire Episode 3: Launhing a House
September 9th, 2007 · Filed Under: tell powerful stories
Another episode of The Next Internet Millionaire - another marketing lesson.
I enjoyed this week’s immunity challenge, which was a poker match. There is one major difference, though, between this game and the eral game of reading your competition in “real life.” Why?
Because in the internet marketing world, many of your competitors are quite experienced and know their way around. But I suspect that the seasoned veterans are a lot like the experienced poker player of the group of contestants who changed her game based on the inexperience of the others.
The team challenge regarding selling an unusual house intrigued me. The 4 people in the “sandbox” came together as a team. What I found most interesting is that the team who had the farthest to go came up wiht the most hair-brained, senseless schemeI could imagine for selling a house.
I love being innovative; however I have learned the value of following the guidance of industry leaders.
Another way to say this is “Follow the cash.”
Understanding your target market is a big deal. The target market has a story about what they want and need.
The house that had been on the market for 18 months is an incredible story of architecture that would not appeal to the mass market–but finding the ideal customer is accomplished by considering the benefits of the product in terms of who would value it.
