The Next Internet Millionaire Episode 1: Teamwork And Success
August 26, 2007 |
Take the immunity challenges of Survivor and the task challenges AND boardroom eliminations of The Apprentice, show it only on the net and you have Joel Comm’s The Next Internet Millionaire. Joel is the author of the best-seller The AdSense Code (Morgan James Publishing).
As I watched the first episode, this is what caught my attention:
Advertising:
HackerSafe sponsors the show and the immunity trials are the “HackerSafe Immunity Challenges.” Great publicity for them and ingenius sponsorsship too. The hackerSafe logo is at the top of the webpage. There are a couple of paid ad spots during the show as well. I wonder how much the traffic of the advertisers has risen since the first show started airing August 15.
The story:
This week’s primary challenge had to do with teamwork, something that solo-preneurs don’t typically deal with. What fascinated me was watching the people be mostly nice to each other (there was one jerky request by a competetor who asked someone to JV with him and then said to iron his shirts.) Overall people were “nice.” Too nice in many ways. Not that much drama.
But back to the teamwork. Two teams. The challenge called on the teams to come up wiht a presentation about Simpleology. If you don’t know what Simpleology is, you won’t figure it out from the show. Mark Joyner, creator of this excellent system, has come out quite a lot lately for a few key projects.
Neither team did a stellar presentation, but both had their strengths. I can’t help but analyze presentations. Coming from a family of performers, and as someone who ADORES teaching and speaking to groups, it’s hard not to notice. The more engaging presentation used a prop at one point and was a bit more interesting.
But here’s the key.
The successful people online NEVER work alone.
Oh sure, they are working from home on their computer, and some of the work is done alone, but look at people like joel Comm. He has a team. He has JV partners and affiliates.
I don’t know how many people sent out emails about the auditions and other aspects of the NIM show, but it was a lot, and that means there was a concerted effort at building a power team.
If you think it’s just you and your PC against the internet, and you can “make it” that way, think again.
Isolation is one of the success killers of the internet world.
So we can learn from Joel’s first challenge that at its core meant teamwork
You can watch the first episode here. The next show is August 27.
What story do YOU tell yourself about your success? On-or offline, you can’t do it alone.
Your success comes not from being the lone ranger, but from showing others how they can solve their problems and how they can make money (that’s what your affiliates want, you know).
Your success story is ultimately about having a mastermind team and an optimized sales force.
