This is a perfect example of leveraging your passion to boost your business.   I read this in the March issue of Entrepreneur Magazine.  Shaun Tomson’s Surfer’s Code may seem at first glance to have nothing to do with business.

Think again.

Mr. Tomson has done exactly what I coach authors to do: take your passion and give it a context that will help you write your book and grow your business around it.  Amy Williams built her self improvement system around archery.  She doesn’t have a book yet, but she does have a system that is the basis for her business.  Her credibility will skyrocket when she gets her book done.

Mr. Tomson DOES have a book.  Quoting the article:

Tomson and his wife, Carla, have a 9-year-old high-end casualwear firm, Solitude, that’s sold exclusively at J.C. Penney. Thomson expands on the code and applies it to business–and life–in his book Surfer’s Code: 12 Simple Lessons for Riding Through Life, which was already in its fourth printing at press time.”

Credibility.

This is an example of one of the rules that applies to both surfing and business.  Again quoting the article:

Shaun Tomson: One is “I will always paddle back out.” If you get wiped out in business or in life, you’ve got to get back on your board and paddle back out and try to catch another wave. Tenacity, determination and courage are all important ingredients for a successful athlete–and entrepreneur.”

One of the rules I like best that he usus is “never turn your back on the ocean.”  He advises us to be watchful and aware of what is happening around us at all times, even if what we’re doing is fun.

Think about what you love to do better than anything else in the world.  Can you write a book about it?  Sure you can!  Email me at Ronda@Storyation.com and I’ll make arrangements to talk with you about the Entrepreneurial Authoring program for which I am the authoring coach.  It’s not my system–it’s Glenn Dietzel’s, and he knows his stuff.  I’ve used his system to create more success for myself than I would have been able to manage without it

.  Before I completed my program, he hired me as an authoring coach.  Now, three tiems a week, I ask “the dreaded question” and make sure you are on target for your goals.

Do you have a book in you?  I know you do.
