[Guest Blogging Success Secrets] Pump Up Your Reputation and Grow Your Business through Guest Blogging part 1
February 2, 2008 |
Have you ever considered being a guest blogger? If you are an author, entrepreneur, business owner, consultant, charity promotor, or have any other reason to need a great reputation, guest blogging is something you wantt to consider. These are some ways it could happen:
You Might Want to Be a Guest Blogger If …
- You are an author taking a virtual book tour, and you’re visiting numerous blog stops
- You’re an industry leader who puts an article on someone’s blog by arrangement
- Someone asks you to share your expertise as a guest blogger
- You approach someone in your industry who has a blog and offer to be a guest blogger
- You are interviewed, either live or by having someone send you questions, then they post the interview on their blog, like the InnerSpace Author Interviews here
- You are an entrepreneur or business owner with an important message to share
- You work with a charity or not for profit organization with an important message to share
Those are just a few examples. Before I give you some hints to become a top-notch guest, let me share some reasons WHY guest blogging is so powerful.
5 Reasons Why You Want to Be a Guest Blogger
- Everything you do online gives you another “footprint” with Google and the other search engines. The more tracks you make, the better.
- More tracks means increased credibility. About a year ago I coined the term “Storyation” for my specific journey of self discovery and business development. There were about 4 Google hits when I started. Now there are 6,250. An author with nothing but a website (which means only a couple of search engine tracks) is a nobody. An author with more tracks gets more media, more of a following, and more respect.
- The only way for people to know your expertise is if you share it. Guest blogging is an excellent way to do this.
- have you ever heard of Zipf’s Law? People want to follow the industry leader. When you give outstanding content in your guest blog stops, you develop a reputation of excellence. Nobody wants to follow the 200th best person in your industry.
- People are jaded and cynical because there is so much garbage on the internet. Great content that you provide through guest blogging - as well as your other methods such as making viral videos, blogging yourself, putting articles on article directories, submitting press releases and etc. - helps people know, like and trust you.
OK so you now know that you are doing yourself a favor by appearing as a guest blogger, or doing an interview. You may wonder why a blogger would want to solicit guest bloggers. Following are some reasons why:
Reasons Why Bloggers Want Guest Bloggers
So how do you build relationships with people in your industry who would make a great blog stop for you? That is the topic of the next article in this series.
