I am so excited to bring you another fabulous author! Please meet LaConnie Taylor-Jones, author of the romance novel When I’m With You, available at all the usual suspects.

Blurb/summary of book

When your life has been terrorized by violence, how do you manage to go forward, looking over your shoulder at every turn? This is the daily question that haunts Caitlyn Thompson. She has been in hiding from an ex-boyfriend for three years, always careful not to slip up and allow him to find her again. Working for a neighborhood youth center, she has found her niche. This is something she believes in, having grown up in inner-city New Jersey herself. Submitting a grant request to a wealthy philanthropist foundation, Caitlyn is soon to meet the man who will make her want to stop running, want to trust and love again; Marcel Baptiste. It will take a will of iron and a courage she didn’t know she possessed to battle her fears and open up to the wealthy entrepreneur. But when violence comes knocking again, will she have the courage to face her biggest nightmare?

Do you set writing goals and write them down?Absolutely!! Not only do I write them down, I work hard each day to achieve them. My writing goal is simple: complete two full-length novels per year. I know that in order for me to reach that goal, I have to dedicate at least three hours per day, five days a week to writing.

 

 

Do you set goals for your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of your life with specific action steps and deadlines?

Oh, yes!! Remember, before I became a published author, my life was very active as wife, mother, business owner and community activist. It didn’t take long for me to realize I had to set goal in each of these areas or go totally insane.

What aspects of your own life are woven into your book?The humorous side of me tends to come out in my stories. Also, readers will see how I view family as well as how I’ve learn to deal with the curves life can throw oftentimes throw us. How do you spark your creativity?Reading newspapers, magazines, or sometimes talking with friends or colleagues about a certain topic will make me stop and say, “Hmmm, wonder how I can turn this into a novel?” How do you relax?

Don’t tell my family this, but usually once a month you can find me at the local day spa!! It’s my time and I don’t have to share it with anyone but me.

What do you enjoy doing with friends?I love making plans to meet a friend for lunch or dinner and if time permits, taking in a movie afterwards. What quality do you most desire to develop in yourself as a person?Patience and perseverance. The literary industry is not for the faint-at-heart and things never move at the speed of light. What themes and/or issues predominate in your work?I’ve discovered that the basis for much of my writing comes from my experience as a community health educator for the last fifteen years. What is better about your life now than it was 5 years ago?I’m much more settled and focused now than I was five years ago. Also, I’m able to see the “big picture” better. The more you live, the more experiences you go through. Now I can not only dream about a goal, I can set in motion the strategies it will take to turn those dreams into reality. What was the most important lesson you learned about yourself as a person during the writing of your book?That I can win at anything I set my mind to!! I’m often reminded that the race is not given to the swift or strong, but to those who endure to the end.
