Create a Meaningful Experience for Your Readers/Customers like The Singing Chef

I’ll be honest here. I had never heard of best selling author Andy LoRusso, The Singing Chef, until the BookWise Convention. My first thought was, “Cool, he sings and cooks…Good marketing idea.”

Then I experienced his show and quickly realized he does more than sing and cook Italian. The Singing Chef has appeared on the Donny and Marie show and numerous other television programs. His book, Sing and Cook Italian, comes with — I’ll save that for a moment.

Andy LoRusso creates an experience for the audience. Watch this video and observe how he creates a scene.

What you won’t know from the video is that he has 2 big screens, and he makes sure that we in the audience sing along. The words of the arias and other songs are onscreen so people can sing along, and Andy brings the microphone around through the audience as he performs.

Not only that, but The Singing Chef also shares healthy eating tips. “Fennel is good for the digestion,” he told us. “That’s why it’s in the sausages.” He also tells stories of how the songs he sings touched him as a child and how the family came together around meals.

His book, Sing and Cook Italian, includes over 100 recipes, healthy cooking tips, shopping lists, travel tips for Italy, and more. It also comes with something special, whcih I promised to share. You get a CD so you can bring the singing and cooking experience home.

Now…I’m an author, and I’m a storyteller, and experiencing his show makes me consider what I can do to create a total edu-tainment experience for my audience. I consider what I can do in addition to storytelling to create a total experience for people, and I think of this not only in terms of what I do on a stage, but my customer service. I have made some plans and those of you who decide to accept my gift to you (or who already have it) will discover it for yourself.

Ideas are a dime a dozen. It’s the presentation of an idea that makes a difference, and Andy LoRusso creates an educational and entertaining experience.

Take a few minutes at your earliest convenience to think about and write down what YOU can do to create an experience for your audience, whether your audience is a crowd or an individual. How can you provide service in an outstanding way that captures people’s interest and touches their senses?
