I’m so grateful my mother taught me not to sweat the small stuff.  I wish she had taught some other people the same lesson.

My experience is that people get bent out of shape beyond all reason over small stuff.

Besides theI person who demanded a refund because I didn’t get the call replay up fast enough for her, I’ve had a few more people get upset beyond reason.  They decided I was intentionally being a nuissance without thinking that perhaps a technical glitch was involved.

Case in point:  I automatically send these blog entries to my list, but hadn’t seen one come through for a while.  Broken feed.  No clue what the problem was. So yesterday the feed issue resolved and there was a flurry of blog broadcasts coverign the last 8 posts. Not 8 duplicates.  8 unique qrticles.

I would like to thank the people who unsubscribed because I sent them “the same newsletter 8 times” (which of course I didn’t), because they are not horribly observant and they take themselves too seriously.  Thank you.  I Bless you. on your way.  Please find your smile before you kill yourselves with stress.

But interestingly enough, several people had a completely different interpretation of what happened.  This is a message I wrote to my list, followed by 2 responses:

The trickseer is alive and well.

Wow - that was quite a flurry of blog posts!

A couple of folks thought I did that on purpose and sent out 8 duplicate posts –

Yeah right!  I would never want to bother my dear list. :D
Now, I didn’t even have a hand in doing that.  Though it cleared a few people from the list who take life VERY seriously and let little things get more attention than they deserve.

This is what happened…

Evidently my broken RSS blog feed had a miraculous recovery so we all got the last 8 blog entries at 11:59 yesterday.

But this gives me a perfect teachable moment.

When irritations come up, ask yourself:

“Will this matter 5 years from now?”

“Hey I thought we were just playing catch-up so I did - catch up, that is (smile)!!  I caught up on all the blog entries I hadn’t had time to read plus all the flurries - it’s all good.  I enjoyed reading them all, even if I wasn’t supposed to get them all at once.  You have a great writing style that feels like we are just sitting down and talking.  So how can I mind reading that many at once?  We just had a long conversation.” Nan

Exactly!

“I can’t believe someone would get upset over the multiple blogs or over the call not being up.  As you say, they can keep on being the way they are and not the way they can become.  What a loss…..for them and for the world.  What contribution could they have made?” Sandra

Those and a few “amen to that” type responses came through already today.  Sandra, Nan, and the rest…thank you.You are going to be successful because you do not let little things get to you.

Now when I say that your mindset or attitude determines everything, you’ll understand exactly what I mean.
