Ronda Del Boccio, The Story LadyThis is a really funny story that I think you’ll get a good laugh from. I think it’s destined to be a Story Lady classic. I am the latest in a long line of resourceful, resiliant, stubborn women. I do not give up easily and I do not take “no” for an answer.

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you may remember that I auditioned for Top Affiliate Challenge, the world’s
first real time internet reality show.

Why did I do it? Just for fun, yes - but then, the thought of going into a competition with real money at stake roused my interest. Maybe part of it is the fun chance to show that someone who is mostly blind can still be a real contender. Maybe it’s the thrill of competition. Now I just plain want to be there and go for Top Affiliate. But you wouldn’t believe what happened with my audition!

OK I am really not a fan of “reality shows,” other than The Next Internet Millionaire. I used to watch The Apprentice, but when The Donald had the losers sleeping in tents, that turned me off and I haven’t come back since.

Let’s face it. They’re partially staged and we only see what the folks behind the show want us to see anyway. Even with NIM.

The first time I auditioned at JV Alert Live in Orlando, we were in a noisy room. the daddy of Top Affiliate Challenge, Thor Schrock assured me the mic should be able to drown out the background noise, but it malfunctioned. So we went into a quiet room and I told Thor I would go around and get people into his now secluded audition room to help him out.

Then
I waited for my audition to appear so I could ask you to go vote me a 10.

And
I waited.

And I waited.

And pretty soon everyone else who auditioned at the same time - or every one that I knew about - had already appeared…

Including my dog’s! her name is Miss Molly Flagtail, and you’re welcome to go vote her a 10.
And then Thor told me he had searched high and low and my audition in the quiet room was nowhere to be found.

Now, for someone who never imagined she would ever EVER audition for a reality show, you would think that I would just say, “OK, that’s a sign to just let it go.”

Except now I really do want to make it to the show.

Go figure.

It’s not a sign that I should forget about it and go on with my life. It’s a sign that I’m being tested for my level of commitment to my dream of financial freedom.
So I told Thor I would send in a video. But it didn’t happen as planned.Something happened to my digital camera. (It shoots video at 30 frames per second, normally, and it’s what I use to make all my videos on YouTube and other video sites. I had charged the battery, but the camera wouldn’t turn on. So I took the battery pack out and put it back in.

Nothing.

I took it out and wiped it with a microfiber cloth and also wiped out the battery compartment, then I put the battery back in.

Nothing.

I tried putting in AA batteries, which normally work just fine in a pinch. They are my on-the-road backup for shooting video or pictures. Anyway…

Nothing.

So I put the rechargeable battery pack back in but I did it the wrong way and it jammed. I tried pulling it out. It wouldn’t budge.

OK…so then I stacked a couple magazines on the table and oh-so carefully tapped the camera, attempting enough force to dislodge the battery without breaking the camera. I put my cupped hand beneath it to capture the battery pack.

Voila! The battery pack popped into my hand. I put it back inside the camera, and WOW - the light went on and the camera worked…

sort of…(that’s an addendum)

So I shot the audition video. It looks just fine.

I went to the Top Affiliate Challenge site and tried signing in with the info I used to join their forum. It wouldn’t let me in.

It said I had used a duplicate email and wouldn’t let me in, so I had to re-register.
Now ask yourself, would you have given up at this point or kept on trying? No judgment either way. I’m just wondering.

OK so anyway, I attempted to upload the video. WHen you do this, normally there is a bar or a message or SOMETHING that says the video is uploading and please don’t close the browser window. I was about to go have dinner, so I left it to do its thing.

When I got back, I saw the message that the video had successfully uploaded. So now - theoretically -
TAC should have my audition video and theoretically it should appear shortly, once someone has had a chance to load it.Don’t you just love technology?

And after I submitted the audition video, I decided that while I had the make-up and nice clothes on I would make one of my author coaching videos on how to write a money making book. So I did, but now the color is

going wonky so maybe it’s time for a new camera!

Then
as I was writing this blog post for you, my browser froze! So when my audition is up, believe me…you’ll know!

And after all that, I had better make it to the show!

PS
my audition is up Please vote me a 10. Thanks!
